IntroductionPrimary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is characterized by excessive secretion of parathyroid hormone (PTH) from one or more parathyroid glands. PTH has a central role in the regulation of calcium and phosphate and the classic disorder causes primarily hypercalcemia associated with renal and bone manifestations.
